As you may recall, the city of Knoxville TN last week cancelled the annual American Spaniel Club Flushing Spaniel Show because of a surge in COVID cases.  After a review of a variety of options, last night the American Spaniel Club Board of Directors voted in favor of moving the event to a venue in Ocala FL the weekend of January 15-17, 2021.

That means the Flushing Spaniel Show WILL BE HELD after all.

The venue is the Greater Ocala Dog Club grounds in Ocala, FL.  Notice of the change in venue has been sent to the AKC and to our superintendent, Foy Trent Dog Shows, and the changes are expected to be reflected on their websites shortly.

The show as approved by the ASC Board will include a Cocker Spaniel specialty, and the traditional Flushing Spaniel Show, without Obedience and Rally.

The entries which were made for the Flushing Spaniel Show in Knoxville will be carried over to the show in Ocala.  Anyone who made an entry for the Knoxville show who does not wish to exhibit their dogs at the show in Ocala has the option of cancelling their entry and requesting a refund by contacting Foy Trent directly.  The blanket refunds announced last week because of the Knoxville cancellation will not be sent out because the show is no longer cancelled. The seating and grooming space refunds will be issued.

Only the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of America at this time has agreed to hold their previously scheduled independent specialty in conjunction with the Flushing Spaniel Show. The other flushing spaniel breeds who were holding independent specialty shows will be working out their own arrangements with Foy Trent and the AKC on cancellations.  Their entries in the Flushing Spaniel Show will be moved to Ocala.

RV hookups (electric only) are available on site at a cost set by the ASC Board of $30 per day.  It is my understanding there are also electrical outlets available in the show area which will be set aside as a grooming pavilion for those who are not attending the show in RVs.  No grooming space reservations will be necessary.

It is clear that the COVID pandemic is still a major concern for all of us.  There is a waiver form currently under development which will be required of all attendees, without exception.  While ASC is not providing seating at the show, all personal seating must conform to social distancing guidelines.  In addition, face masks will be required at all time in the show area.  The brief removal of masks will be allowed for eating or drinking.

A revised COVID guideline and waiver form will be posted prior to the event.
